My understanding of a healthy life is a life where we live in harmony and peace with the ones around us. Our thoughts and feelings affect our health since our body reacts to how we feel.
For example, if we feel sad, we distance ourselves from others and try to spend some time alone.
~ Aditya, 15, India
Health is not only about your body but also your connection with your mind, others, and the environment. When was the last time you felt this immense sense of oneness with all of life?
A deep, peaceful, satisfying, and restful connection that was hard to describe. Well, that’s what health is about!
In my thinking, healthy living is not only in terms of the body but also mind and soul, because they are connected. I believe that having happy thoughts and dreams makes you healthy, as well as having a good experience and feeling joy.
~ Inês, 18, France
I believe your thoughts and feelings have a huge impact on your health. Negative attitudes and approaches to life will
have a negative multiplier effect on health, which could lead to depression and self-harm.
~ Ryan, 16, England
Thoughts and feelings towards ourselves can drastically affect how you are feeling that day. The most prevalent voice in everyone’s life is their own, and if that voice is constantly filled with negativity, life will seem quite sombre. If we learn to think positively about ourselves and the world around us, we can live a much happier life.
~ Aastha, 16, USA
Health is deeply intertwined with peace. When there is peace within my own body and mind and peace with others, all is in perfect balance. Joy, enthusiasm, peace, and ease are indicators of healthy relationships with other people. When there is no disturbance, no violence, no excess, or any imbalance in relation to the environment, you can safely say that this is a sign of health.
Imagine yourself sitting in a forest glade, surrounded by beautiful trees. Your lungs are experiencing a pure exchange of oxygen with the trees and the air. A pure, gurgling spring runs nearby. Birds and animals are moving around freely in spontaneous playfulness. There is great joy and peace in your heart. This is how health feels.
